It is a benign granulomatous lesion that mainly occurs in the face and neck, especially in the parotid area. This disease is also called eosinophilic lymphogranuloma.
The cause of the disease is unknown. In recent years, studies have considered it to be an immune disease related to Candida albicans. This disease is more common in young or middle-aged men, but can also occur in women. Granuloma masses vary in size, are flexible and have no capsule. The cut surface is off-white, mixed with white, yellow, and gray areas. In the parotid area, the lesions can be seen to adhere to the parotid body, or invade between the parenchymal lobules of the gland, but it does not involve Facial nerve, lymph nodes around granuloma can be enlarged. Under the microscope, the mass was seen as granulomatous, with a large number of lymphocytes and eosinophils infiltrating, and lymphoid follicles appeared, and they were often proliferative. The same amount of connective tissue and collagen fibers, the above-mentioned pathological changes can also be seen in the skin, subcutaneous tissue and glands of the diseased area. Lymphatic proliferation and diffuse eosinophilic infiltration can be seen in the lymph around the mass. It manifests as a painless mass in the soft tissue of the parotid gland area, slowly increasing, and the average duration of illness can be as long as 7-8 years, accompanied by mild fever and fatigue. Lesions can also occur in soft tissues around the orbit, zygomatic cheeks, submandibular and submental, upper arms, thighs and other soft tissues. They do not invade bone. They can be single or multiple. The lump is soft and rubber-like at first, and becomes hard and tough after a long time, with unclear boundaries and no tenderness. The surface skin is thickened, rough, itchy, and the pigmentation is gray-brown, and it is closely connected to the lump, but the base of the lump can be Push, sometimes it can be big or small, and occasionally it can relieve itself. Regional lymph nodes or superficial lymph nodes all over the body can be enlarged, about 1-3 cm in size, not painful, not tender, nor suppurative.
